
In a devastating attack on Saturday night, gunmen invaded Umucheke Okwe, an autonomous community in the Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State, and killed seven community leaders, including the president general, Hyginus Ohazuruike.
According to a source who spoke to Leadership Sunday, the attack occurred while the leaders were holding a meeting at the premises of Ohazuruike.
The source described the chilling scene: “The seven men were gathered at Ohazuruike’s shop when a vehicle sped to the location. Gunmen emerged, and without any warning, they opened fire on the leaders. Within minutes, they were back in their vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the victims in a pool of blood.”
Emeka Obi, the sole administrator of Onuimo Local Government Area, confirmed the tragic incident, stating that efforts are underway to restore order and ensure normalcy in the community.
