Torrential rainfall wreaks havoc Communities in FCT Nigeria

No fewer than 116 buildings have been submerged by flood in the affected areas on Friday following a heavy down pour in FCT, Nigeria’s capital

Residents of Trademore Estate along the Lugbe-Airport axis lamented their losses as the floods left a trail of destruction in its wake.

What began as light showers around 8am turned into a relentless downpour, catching residents off guard.

The heavy deluge of water overwhelmed the drainage systems, leading to a rapid rise in floodwaters that engulfed the entrance of the estate.

According to reports, majority of the houses are constructed in water ways

Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Dr Abbas G.Idriss, confirmed this in a statement on Friday.
Four other persons were rescued and were in stable condition, according to the rescue agency.
Residents of the estate were seen during the downpour, trying to save their lives and salvage their property after their houses were submerged.
