Togolese journalists imprisoned for slandering minister

Two Togolese journalists were imprisoned for using social media to disparage a government minister.

Both freelance reporter Anani Sossou and newspaper editor Loic Lawson had accused the housing minister of withholding information about a break-in at his residence.

According to them, the politician did not disclose that more than $600,000 worth of cash had been taken when they reported the crime to the police.

Finally, he filed a lawsuit against them.

Reporters Without Borders, a group that monitors media, has demanded the two be freed right now.
