Suspected rapist stabs man, two wives in Niger

Two housewives were on Friday night stabbed with a knife along with their husband by a suspected rapist who jumped into their compound, located at Kaduna road area, in Suleja town, in Niger state.

The incident took place around 11 30 pm during a rainfall, as has been explained by one of the two women, Mariya Umar, the first victim.

“Our husband was passing his night inside the room of my second, the first wife, when the man forced my room’s door open. “He came in naked and dragged me into my bed, holding me by the neck and hitting me with a knife at the same, as he warned me to remain quiet, the woman added.

Also speaking, the first wife, Zilfa Umar, said she along with her husband were attracted by the squabble, and rushed toward the first victim’s room. She stated that the suspect have stabbed any of them that attempted to approach him, using the knife in his possession. “He hit our husband with the knife severally as well as hitting his head toward the wall that resulted to bleeding, before he escaped” the first wife added.

A resident, Yusuf Ali said they later understood that the man had applied soap all over his body apparently to avoid being held by anyone. Ali added that they rushed the three victims to a nearby clinic but been rejected, before taken them to a pharmacy within the neighbourhood, where they were treated .

Husband of the two women, Mallam Umar Abdullahi was not at the home during the visit, as he was reportedly left to the Suleja police area command where a suspect connected to the case was said to be arrested. Contacted, the Suleja police area commander, ACP Muhammad Sani Musa, had confirmed that a suspect of similar case was arrested from the same neighbourhood by the members of the security vigilante there, and been handed over to the command where investigation was ongoing, said the police chief.
