Super Eagles star announces club exit

Shehu Abdullahi has announced his exit from Cypriot Cup champions Omonia Nicosia after two years.

The Super Eagles star helped the club to a first trophy in a long time despite picking a red card in the final but has announced his exit from the Cypriot club

The former Bursaspor player joined the Cypriot club in 2020 and helped them to their first title in more than a decade.

Abdullahi, 29, has had a nomadic career which has taken him from Kuwait to Portugal to Turkey and Cyprus and his next destination is yet to be revealed.

The former Olympic bronze-medallist announced his exit on a Twitter post on Friday and said he has helped the club create history in his two years there.

He also added that he’s still a part of the club despite his exit.

“I am honoured to play for Omonia, in two years we have been able to create history.

“For decades titles were missing in Omonia & I am glad in two years, we won three titles & restored the pedigree of the club.

” This is not a goodbye message, but to say we will see in the future.

“I appreciate the management, coaches, backroom staff, and my teammates for the amazing memories we shared.
” To Omonia fans, I appreciate your support and love, I had an amazing memories.

“Wishing Omonia success in future endeavours.”
