The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, who died in captivity after being kidnapped by bandits.
Alhaji Bawa and his son were abducted on July 29, and reports indicate that the district head passed away while in the hands of his captors. Speaker Abbas condemned the kidnapping as a barbaric act and described the treatment of the late Sarkin Gobir as inhuman.
The Speaker also expressed concern over the ongoing issue of kidnapping for ransom in the country, calling it unacceptable. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Sarkin Gobir, the Gatawa District in Sabon Birni Local Government, as well as the people and government of Sokoto State.
He prayed for Allah’s mercy on the soul of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and for Jannatul Firdaus to be his final resting place.
