A tragic incident has occurred in Elebele Community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, where a 22-year-old man, identified as Godwin, allegedly stabbed his mother to death.
The motive behind the shocking act stemmed from his belief that his mother had been hindering his destiny and wealth.
Godwin had recently returned to the community after spending several months in Benin City, Edo State. During his absence, some locals reported that a pastor had warned his mother about potential danger, advising her not to accept any unusual gifts from her son.
Upon his return, Godwin exhibited strange behavior, claiming that a spiritual figure, referred to as “Baba,” had informed him that his mother was the one preventing his success and fortune. Consumed by these beliefs, Godwin allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed his mother in a violent outburst.
He said:
“We were told that since the boy came back from Benin City, Edo State, he has been behaving in a strange manner. On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with the mother and stabbed her with a knife in the stomach.
“The boy was heard saying that one “Baba” had told him that the mother is in possession of his destiny and wealth”.
The Spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Musa Mohammed, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed investigation.
