Senate to suspend plenary for 2 weeks over Budget defense

The Nigerian Senate will suspend plenary for two weeks to allow for defense of the 2024 budget by Ministries, Agencies, and Departments of Government.

Leader of the Senate, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi announced that the Upper Chamber will sit tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday to debate the 2024 budget due to the urgency of the task.

The decision was arrived at plenary on Wednesday, following the presentation of the 2024 budget by President, Bola Tinubu.

Some lawmakers who spoke immediately after the 2024 budget presentation by President Tinubu are hopeful that the Budget will impact positively in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

Meanwhile, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio had during the Budget presentation urged lawmakers to consider the budget as a crucial step to addressing the suffering of citizens across the country.
