The search for a crew member who went missing at sea during an international trip has been canceled.
The 120-night journey departed Thursday at 15:25 local time (14:25 BST) from Lisbon, Portugal, with a destination of Tilbury, Essex.
After breakfast, the Indian employee went away, stating that they “could not be located” at the beginning of their workday.
“Dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of all our crew and guests,” declared Ambassador Cruise Line.
According to an Ambassador Cruise Line spokesman, the ship had changed direction to go back to the location where the staff member was last seen before being released by the coast guard.
Also, searches were done throughout the ship.
The ship Ambience was sailing off the coast of Cape Finisterre, Spain, when the coast guard was notified of an issue. The ship was on the last leg of her world tour.
Ambience is currently scheduled to arrive at Tilbury on Sunday night after beginning its journey back to the UK.
“Our immediate priority is to provide full support to all crew members who are closely affected by this incident,” an Ambassador Cruise Line spokesman stated.
“Guests onboard have been kept informed throughout the day and have been advised of recent developments.
“Many have expressed their well-wishes, and we would like to thank them for their concern and support.”
Planned events to mark Ambience’s return have been cancelled.
“Ambassador remains committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our crew and guests.
” We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of our colleague at this difficult time.
“Specialist support will be offered to all crew affected by today’s events,” the spokeswoman added.
The cruise firm said that this will be affected and that customers will be contacted. The ship was scheduled to depart for the British Isles Discovery tour on Sunday night. (BBC)
