Police prosecute over 3,000 last year, deploy special squad

The Kano Police Command says no fewer than 3,000 criminals have been arrested and prosecuted for various offences in the last year.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano Command, CP Usaini Gumel, disclosed this while briefing the media on the achievements of the command in the last 365 days.

He said the criminals were prosecuted in connection with kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, human trafficking, illicit drug dealings and thuggery.

He noted that under the Inspector General of Police Safe Schools Initiative, aimed at improving the security of lives and property, the command launched the School Protection Squad, (SPS) to provide adequate security to all schools across the state, especially along the borders with other states.
