Police arrest quack doctor over fatal treatment in Nasarawa

In a shocking case from Nasarawa State, the police have arrested Isa Usman, a 35-year-old man posing as a doctor, after his questionable medical practices allegedly led to the death of a patient in Keana Local Government Area.

Usman, originally from Gombe State, was taken into custody in the Iyayi community after being accused of administering a fatal treatment to Zaki Yaka Ajohol.

Despite holding nothing more than a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Usman claimed to have received medical training at Asibitin Yusuf in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area.

However, with no formal medical qualifications beyond primary school, serious concerns have been raised about his ability to provide medical care.

The spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, revealed that Usman admitted to administering procaine injections to Ajohol over three days, believing he was treating typhoid.

Tragically, on the fourth day, Usman gave another dose of the injection, which caused the patient to collapse and lose consciousness.

Despite being rushed to a nearby primary health care center in Akeleku, Ajohol was declared dead upon arrival.

Following the arrest, authorities confiscated various drugs and medical equipment from Usman.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for a thorough investigation and potential prosecution.
