The 2023 presidential candidate under the Labour Party, Peter Gregory Obi has commiserated with Abuja flood victims, calling for humanitarian support for affected citizens
A torrential downpour in Abuja on Friday left the popular Trademore Estate, on Airport Road, flooded, with 116 houses submerged, according to FEMA.
Reacting in a tweet on Saturday, Mr Obi said, “the flooding incident at Trademore Estate in Lugbe, Abuja, which has resulted in the loss of lives and properties worth millions of naira is a major disaster and is very heartbreaking.”
He added, “my heart goes out in sympathy to all those who are affected by this unfortunate flooding incident. In the meantime, urgent humanitarian help should be provided to the residents in the areas of evacuation. Accommodation, relief materials and health care should be provided to enable them to carry on with their normal lives.”
