NDDC probe: Police take over ex-MD, Nunieh’s residence

A former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Joy Nunieh Thursday morning cried out that police operatives are holding her hostage at her residence in Port Harcourt.

Nunieh, who is due to testify before the House of Representatives committee on NDDC this morning in the ongoing investigations into corruption allegations in the Commission said she cannot leave her house because some police personnel have taken over her residence.

The former managing director on her Twitter handle said “#HappeningNow: “Somebody can not commit all these crimes and then send police to my house”, apparently referring to the minister of Niger Delta, Senator Akpabio who have been engaged in a war of attrition over allegations of corruption.

Speaking to our Correspondent, the ex-MD, Joy Nunieh said “armed men have been banging on my front door since 4 am this morning so i will not be able to attend the investigative sitting.

Governor Nyesom Wike has visited her residence as the time of filing in this report

Recall that Nunieh has been having a running battle with Senator Godswill Akpabio, who she accused of corruption and sexually molesting her.

The minister has however denied all the allegations and reportedly directed his lawyers to file a suit on his behalf for defamation.

The House NDDC committee led by Hon  Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo had on Wednesday at the commencement of the investigation queried the Central Bank of Nigeria and the office of the Auditor general of the Federation for allegedly approving the spending of N81.5 billion on the audit of the NDDC between January and June 2020.
