Nasarawa Police arrest ‘One Chance’ armed robbers terrorizing Karu LGA residents

The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended two armed robbers known for their involvement in “One Chance” operations, which had been causing distress among residents of the Karu Local Government Area.

This development was announced in a press statement released on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in Lafia.

DSP Nansel explained that the suspects, notorious for stealing from unsuspecting members of the public, were captured after relentless efforts by the police. The arrest marks a significant step toward restoring peace and safety in the affected communities.

The PPRO said, “On 13/8/2024 at about 2030hrs, information was received that suspected armed robbers riding in a Toyota Corolla 1994 model with Reg. No. Benue MKD 77 TF picked up an unsuspecting passenger from New Nyanya en route to Area 1, Abuja, but robbed the passenger of her handbag, iPhone, and other valuables and threw their victim out of the moving vehicle.

“Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to New Karu Area command, in collaboration with public-spirited individuals, gave the criminals a hot chase and intercepted their vehicle.

“Consequently, the duo of John Iorfa 29yrs and James Agbo 37 years all of Makurdi, Benue State were arrested and items earlier robbed from the victim were recovered.”

Nansel added that the suspects had made useful statements and that efforts are ongoing to arrest other syndicate members.
