The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralized several bandits, including notorious leaders Ado Aliero and Dan Umaru, in a series of targeted airstrikes in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
The strikes, part of Operation Fasan Yamma, aimed to dismantle the operational strongholds of bandit groups in Nigeria’s north-west. Intelligence reports confirmed that the strikes disrupted key bandit activities, destroyed critical planning hubs, and inflicted significant losses on their networks.
Among the high-impact targets was the residence of Dan Umaru, which was engulfed in flames during the operation. This marks a strategic blow to the gang’s coordination and influence in the region.
The operation aligns with recent successes in Nigeria’s counter-banditry efforts. In September, troops under Operation Hadarin Daji eliminated notorious bandit leader Kachallah Buzu and his fighters in Zamfara. Around the same period, NAF thwarted a terrorist attack in Shiroro LGA, Niger State, killing 28 armed bandits.
The Nigerian military remains resolute in its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region. These sustained offensives demonstrate the government’s focus on eradicating banditry and protecting vulnerable communities.
