Kamel Maddouri has been named as the new Prime Minister of Tunisia by President Kais Saïed, replacing Ahmed Hachani.
This appointment was made on Wednesday afternoon while President Kais Saïed met with Minister of Social Affairs, Kamel Maddouri.
Prior to his appointment as Social Affairs Minister in May, Kamel served as the Chairman and CEO of the Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Maladie (CNAM).
Here’s what to know about the new Prime Minister of Tunisia;
1. Maddouri was born on January 25, 1974, in Tboursouk.
2. He holds a doctorate in Community Law and Relations between the Maghreb and Europe. He also earned a master’s degree in legal sciences from the Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences of Tunis 2. His academic credentials are further enhanced by his graduation from the École nationale d’administration (ENA) and the Institute of National Defence in 2015.
3. In addition to his administrative roles, Maddouri has been active in social dialogue, serving as a member of the National Council for Social Dialogue and Vice-Chairman of its Social Protection Sub-Committee.
4. He has contributed to various national institutions, including the General Insurance Committee and the boards of three social security funds.
5. Maddouri is not only a seasoned professional but also an educator, having taught at both the École nationale d’administration and the College of Interior Security Forces.
6. Maddouri is married and has three children, balancing his professional commitments with family life.
7. He held the position of Chairman and CEO of the Caisse Nationale de Retraite et de Prévoyance Sociale (CNRPS), showcasing his extensive background in social and health insurance sectors.
