Medical expert advocates organ donation bank (Video)

Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association Rivers state chapter is advocating that there is need for the country to have provision for organ bank where organs are being kept and given to people whenever they deserve it.

This call was made during the physician week activities held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Worried about the continuous organ harvesting in the country especially sales of kidney, Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers State Chapter Dr Ebbi Robinson said the association is advocating that no donation of organs should be done for profit or money making.

Dr Robinson said the medical practitioners strongly kicks against the act of donations of organ for money.

He also called for strong legislation to control organ donation in the country

Speaking on the theme: this is our chance to get it right in the health sector, some Public health Specialist said the Federal government needs to incorporate medical specialists before taking a decision on policies that affects the health of the nation.

Africangazette reports that the Medical practitioners are advocating quality healthcare, improved budget management services, quality equipment to cover the lapses of brain drain in the health care system.
