
Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde has assured that government under his watch was determined to address the rot that had over the years characterized her tertiary institutions across the state.

To achieve this feat, the Governor says only individuals with quality track record and capacity would be engaged to ensure that her schools can favorably compete with her counterparts the world over.
Governor Makinde gave this assurance at the executive council chambers in Ibadan during the presentation of a planning and implementation report for the Ladoke Akintola University of technology teaching hospital Ogbomosho and the Emmanuel Alayande University Oyo.
The strategic meeting is designed to address the rot in the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology teaching hospital Ogbomosho and the Emmanuel Alayande University Oyo which had overtime fell short of public expectation.
The Authorities had inaugurated a fact-finding committee to beam its torch light on the deficiencies in the operations of the schools and the committee is ready with its report.
Some of the recommendations presented by the committee include increased funding, establishment of a directorate for tertiary healthcare ,manpower development, improved staff welfare and green-light for her governing councils to perform its statutory duties.
The low national ratings of tertiary institutions in Oyo state is a major source of concern to the Governor who has promised to expedite action and ensure that Universities can function effectively
The Governor charged the committee members to be more dedicated towards the implementation of their recommendations while promising that government would continue to contribute its quota to the delivery of a qualitative education
