In a tragic incident that has shocked the Iba community in Lagos, the Lagos State Police Command has detained a man suspected of causing the death of his 47-year-old younger brother during a physical altercation.
The suspect, identified as Ayodeji Busari, is now in police custody as investigations continue into the fatal confrontation.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.
According to the report, the altercation occurred on the night of August 23, around 11:00 p.m. The following morning, at approximately 6:40 a.m., an unnamed individual reported the incident to the authorities.
The victim, who had travelled from Port Harcourt to visit a friend in Lagos, allegedly struck his head on a pavement after being pushed by Busari during the fight.
Despite being rushed to Igando General Hospital for immediate medical attention, he was sadly pronounced dead by the attending medical personnel.
In response to the incident, detectives from the Lagos State Police Command visited the scene to gather crucial evidence.
The victim’s body was subsequently transported to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti-Yaba for further investigation. The incident has raised concerns within the community, highlighting the devastating consequences of family disputes that escalate into violence.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are expected to provide more details about the circumstances surrounding the altercation and any potential charges that may be brought against the suspect.
