Kenyan authorities briefly detain pro-Palestine demonstrators

Three people who were detained by Kenyan police for attending a pro-Palestine conference in the nation’s capital, Nairobi, have now been freed.

Following harsh criticism from many Kenyans, politicians, and human rights organizations, the three were released without being charged on Sunday.

It was announced that a “solidarity meeting” was being held.

Yusuf Hassan, a Kenyan lawmaker, denounced the arrests.

Irng Houghton, the director of Amnesty International in Kenya, described the interruption of the conference as “unlawful” and “deeply disturbing.”

The Kenya Palestinian Solidarity Committee organized it after police dispersed an earlier protest the group had planned outside the US embassy.

President William Ruto has expressed his government’s full support for Israel in the ongoing conflict.
