Kebbi govt to sponsor mass wedding for 600 couples

In a bid to promote social stability and support families, the Kebbi State Government has finalized plans to sponsor the mass wedding of 600 individuals, comprising 300 grooms and 300 brides.

As part of the initiative, each couple will receive a dowry payment of ₦180,000.

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, Suleman Argungu, Chairman of the Mass Wedding Committee, outlined the comprehensive preparations for the event.

He revealed that screening committees have been set up to ensure that participants meet the required criteria.

The screening process will include pre-marital health checks and an assessment of the grooms’ employment or trade status to confirm their capacity to support their families.

Argungu highlighted that the initiative is inclusive, providing opportunities for orphans, widows, and people with special needs, regardless of tribe or religious background.

This socially driven program aims to foster community harmony and provide a solid foundation for new families in the state.
