In 2008, she was awarded as the Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the movie, “Stronger Than Pain”.

Biography

Kate Henshaw hails from Cross River State in South-South Nigeria.

She was birth as the first child among four children on July 19th, 1971.

She studied at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and majored in Medical Microbiology at the School of Medical Laboratory Science.

Prior to this she attended St. Mary private school in Ajele, Lagos and Government Girls College, Calabar for her secondary education.

She also ran a one year remedial programme at the University of Calabar.

Career

Henshaw worked at the Bauchi State General hospital and also modelled for Shield Deodorant before venturing into the movie industry.

She made her first appearance in the Nollywood movie,”when the sun sets” in 1993 and since then she has continued to appear in several other Nollywood films which have earned her awards and recognitions.

Henshaw alongside Dan Foster officiated as a judge in the reality show Nigeria Got Talent in 2012 and in 2019, she was chosen as one of the 50 judges to partake in the CBS International Talent Show called The World’s Best.

She also made a stint into politics when she contested as a representative for Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal constituency on tthe Peoples Democratic Party in 2014 but lost.

She was later appointed Special Adviser, Liaison, Lagos by Governor Ben Ayade, former Governor of Cross River State in 2015.

She has also been endorsed as an ambassador for “Blessing perfumes” , a UK perfumes line, Onga seasoning, Samsung Mobile and Glo, a top telecommunication company operating in Nigeria.

Personal life

Kate Henshaw is a devoted christian who was married to British-born Roderick James Nuttal in 1999 and the union was blessed with a daughter.

Due to some unresolved disagreements, the union ended in 2011.

She has also been involved in several charity initiatives and social concerning women, children and youths through platforms such as the United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
