Kano Hisbah arrests couple for marriage without parental consent

The Kano State Hisbah Board has apprehended a young couple for allegedly conducting a marriage without the consent of their parents.

According to reports, the wedding took place at a recreational event center and was facilitated by an unrelated individual who paid the bride price.

Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, condemned the act, describing it as un-Islamic and unacceptable. He emphasized that parental consent is a fundamental requirement for marriage under Islamic law.

Abubakar stressed that the board would not tolerate such violations and vowed to implement stricter measures to prevent similar incidents.

“I want to announce that the board has arrested the couple and will continue to investigate and arrest their friends as well as other accomplices who aided the secret marriage to avert future occurrence of such un-Islamic practices,” he said.

While urging the general public to be more vigilant on such issues, the DCG commended the efforts of those that drew the attention of the board, adding that an investigation into the matter had already begun.
