
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has appointed Umar Farouk Ibrahim as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), with the appointment effective Monday, February 10, 2025.
The announcement was made through a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, on Saturday.
Ibrahim, a seasoned public servant with over 30 years of experience, brings extensive administrative expertise to his new role.
His career, which began in 1987 and concluded in 2023, saw him hold numerous key leadership positions that significantly contributed to the development of Kano State’s governance structures.
Dawakin-Tofa highlighted that Ibrahim’s track record of dedication and integrity earned him the trust and confidence of the state leadership, making him a suitable choice for the pivotal role of SSG.
“He has served as secretary for numerous high-profile committees and has been instrumental in driving community and educational reforms,” he stated.
Ibrahim holds a degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, obtained in 1985, along with multiple professional certifications that underscore his administrative expertise.
As a retired Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim is expected to bring strategic vision, strong leadership, and a commitment to excellence to his new position. His appointment is considered a strategic effort to enhance the state’s administrative structure and support the effective implementation of government policies and programs.
