Kano fire service recovers body of young man found in well

The Kano State Fire Service has recovered the body of an unidentified young man who reportedly fell into a well on Saturday.

Saminu Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Fire Service, confirmed the incident, explaining that emergency services were alerted around 4:15 p.m. on November 2, 2024, by the DPO of the Kwalli Police Division.

Abdullahi stated that the lifeless body was found in a well within an unfinished building in the Kadama Bakin Titi area, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano.

The Fire Service team responded promptly, retrieving the body from the well. Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Our team arrived at the scene of the incident at approximately 16:40 hours and noticed some dried blood stains around the well. When the rescue team peered into the well, they discovered the decomposing body of a man, approximately 25 years old, whose identity remains unknown, and who was unfamiliar to residents in the area,” he stated.

Abdullahi added, “The body was swollen, indicating that he must have been in the well for the last four days or thereabouts, according to local residents.”

The Fire Service team successfully removed the body and transferred it to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, DCO2 of the Kumbotso Police Division for further handling.
