
Construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to a renewed partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council while pledging continued delivery of quality infrastructural projects across the country.
The company made this pledge during a courtesy visit by the newly elected executives of the NUJ FCT Council to its head office in Abuja on Thursday.
Mr. Emmanuel Isibor, Media Relations Manager at Julius Berger, received the delegation on behalf of the company’s management. The delegation was led by Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council.
While addressing the delegation, Mr. Isibor emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts in nation-building through innovative construction solutions. He highlighted Julius Berger’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructural development and its positive impact on communities across the nation.
The NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, commended Julius Berger for its exceptional work in the construction sector and its media-friendly approach. She expressed optimism about the strengthened collaboration between the union and the company.
“We have done a lot in the area of education”
“We believe that everybody has a right to be educated,” Mr Isibor said.
He promised that the company will continue to collaborate with and support the activities of the NUJ FCT Council. He also promised to report to management some initiatives proposed by the Chairman of Council in her remarks.
“I remember during COVID-19, Julius Berger did some CSR with NUJ and we will continue to improve. We will come back, especially with this relationship we are building now with your exco.
“We will get something done. From time to time, we will do that. I assure you that we remain the solid, multinational and giant construction company that we are. There is no lowering standards here. We will always be up there,” Isibor said.
Meanwhile, in her remarks, Comrade Grace Ike said the delegation embarked on the courtesy visit in recognition of the healthy working relationship Julius Berger has with the media.
Ike stressed that the visit is expected to strengthen the already existing mutual collaboration between Julius Berger and the NUJ FCT Council.
Speaking further, the NUJ FCT Council Chairman highlighted the expected outcome and how Julius Berger can make its presence felt with the Union.
“It is in recognition of the healthy relationship Julius Berger is having with the media we embarked on this visit.
“When you talk about construction companies, one of the firsts that comes to mind is Julius Berger. The role Julius Berger is playing in Nigeria to shape infrastructural development cannot be overemphasized.
“This visit for me is to foster mutual understanding, particularly in the area of media coverage and public awareness of the activities of Julius Berger. In this regard, we are looking forward to having the physical presence of Julius Berger in the NUJ FCT Council.
“We believe that this meeting will facilitate how we can support each other in promoting the activities of the company. We want a stronger relationship with Julius Berger than it used to be before,” Ike said.
Members of the delegation include: the Secretary of Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, Vice Chairman of Council, Comrade Ndanbado Yahaya, and Treasurer of Council, Comrade Sandra Udeike.
Also present were Comrade Sharon Emephia, Comrade Mahmud Isa and the Assistant Secretary of Correspondents Chapel, Comrade Ediri Oyibo.
