Iyabo Ojo regrets advocating for Mohbad’s exhumation

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over her role in advocating for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body.

Speaking during a podcast interview with fellow actress Biola Bayo, Iyabo revealed that, in hindsight, she wishes she had not supported the move due to the controversies and delays it caused in giving the artist a proper burial.

Iyabo Ojo had initially pushed for the exhumation to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death through an autopsy. However, the process became fraught with complications, leaving her disheartened by the unintended consequences of her actions.

Reflecting on the experience, Iyabo acknowledged the emotional toll it took on her and the backlash she faced despite her good intentions.

She admitted that while her goal was to seek justice for Mohbad, the outcome left her questioning whether her involvement had done more harm than good.

“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed If I knew his case would turn out this way.

“I just wanted Mohbad’s body exhumed so they could do the autopsy to find out the cause of his death.

“I did my best to be sure that everyone was investigated but when they came up with different theories, DNA became more important to them”, she said.

African Gazette reports that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was initially buried the next day.

His body was later exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy, as part of the investigation into his death.
