
Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRadaq of Kwara and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) is expected to chair the 2023 International Youth Day (IYD) and a Book lunch titled “Youth Rising” in Abuja.
Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State is also scheduled to unveil the book at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.
Mr Ben Duntoye, the Executive Director, African Youth Resource Centre, said in a statement in Abuja on Friday against the backdrop of the commemoration of the 2023 IYD and the book launch.
Other dignitaries expected at the occasion include: the Senate President, Sen Godswill Akpabio, Gov Yahaya Bello of Kogi, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje among others.
He said the annual event is declared by the United Nations with the 2023 theme “Green Skills for Youth, Towards a Sustainable World. “
According to him, the ceremony is marked in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and major Youths and Students bodies including the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Others are: the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP) and the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC).
According to Duntoye, Youth Leaders are expected from across African countries and from all the states in the country to attend the event.
He said, the 2023 IYD wouod feature the public presentation of a book titled Youth Rising: Harnessing the potentials and aspirations of Nigerian youth towards a greater nation.
Duntoye who is a former President of the Pan African Youth Union said the book authored by him is a product of his years of experience in Youth Development activities.
He noted that the book would serve as resource materials for youths administrators and will inspire young people.
He said the 2023 IYD would be honoured by top dignitaries from the pubic and private sectors
