The Chairman House committee on Finance Hon. James Faleke has called on president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to caution heads of ministries, departments and agencies under finance to respond to the house committee’s invitation in order to ensure the quick passage of the MTEF/FSP 2004-2006.
Faleke made the call on Thursday at the committee hearing when most of the MDAs failed to appear despite served notice by the committee clerk.
Recall that the president had on Tuesday last week transmitted the MTE/FSP to both chambers of the national assembly for quick deliberation and passage along with the 2023 supplementary budget.
But the response of the invited MDAs leaves much to be desired as it does not seem to show the importance the president attached to the documents thereby eliciting outburst from the committee members.
The members completely condemned the action of the Managing Director, Industrial Training Fund for his refusal to honour the invitation of the committee and for sending a subordinate instead of appearing in person.
The Chairman of the committee at this juncture issued a warning while directing the president to call heads of MDAs to order.
However the Managing Director of Federal Housing Authority Senator Olugbenga Asafa was asked to take a bow after Defending the proposal of his agency.
While the Permanent Secretary Budget and Planning office was given a new date to appear before the committee.
