Gov Fintiri mandates certificate submission for October salaries

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has mandated that all state government employees submit their original certificates to receive their October salaries.

This directive, which could affect over 7,000 workers, comes in the wake of recent discoveries of certificate fraud within various ministries, boards, and parastatals in the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonisouko, the measure aims to restore integrity within the civil service, ensuring that only qualified individuals occupy government positions.

“This is not a witch-hunt,” the statement clarified, “but a necessary step to prevent unqualified persons from blocking opportunities for the younger generation.”

Governor Fintiri stressed that any employee who fails to comply with the directive would forfeit their October salary until the required certificates are submitted.

However, he reassured workers that those who present their documents before the end of the month would not face salary denial.

This move reflects the governor’s concern over the systemic issues that allow for the exploitation of government positions.

Fintiri emphasized that the civil service should promote scholarship and honesty, not serve as a refuge for unqualified individuals.

The certificate verification exercise is expected to create a more accountable and transparent workforce, while preventing further abuse of the system.
