The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has been remanded in Kuje prison by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama.
Justice Maryann Anenih issued the remand order on Tuesday after rejecting Bello’s bail application.
Bello is facing a 16-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging his involvement in a ₦110 billion fraud during his tenure as governor.
The court adjourned the trial to February 25, 2025, leaving the former governor in custody until the case progresses.
The charges also implicate two former Kogi State government officials, Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, who are listed as co-defendants.
The EFCC accuses the trio of financial mismanagement and corruption, allegations that have drawn significant public attention and reignited conversations about accountability in governance.
