FG sponsors 175 students to study in Russia (Video)

About 175 students have been sent by the Federal Government to study in various Russian institutions as part of the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA).

Speaking at the pre-departure briefing ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman charged the beneficiaries students to uphold good values, focus on their studies and be good ambassadors of Nigeria.

Represented by the Director, Tertiary Education in the ministry, Rakiya Gambo Ilyasu, the minister said that the selection beneficiary students was part of a broader plan of deepening the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which ensures that brilliant Nigerians are supported to get necessary knowledge, skills and competence useful for the development agenda of the country.

The Director, Federal Scholarship Board, Asta Ndajiwo, who acknowledged the journey since November 2022 with applications from thousands of Nigerians which translated to the nomination of the candidates, advised
the scholars to do away with any extracurricular activities that could take their lives.

The first batch of scholars are already on their way to Russia, while the second and third batch would depart on the 15th and 17th of November 2023 respectively.
