FCTA Taskforce Relaunches Offensive Against Hoodlums in Durumi, Demolishes Illegal Structures

To rid the nation’s capital territory of the activities of criminal elements, the FCT Administration’s Task Force on City Sanitation has revisited some hide outs in Durumi district where some security operatives were attacked by alleged miscreants few months ago

Recalled that some miscreants allegedly assaulted and broke a Police Officer’s head, injuring other task force members of the Federal Capital Territory Administration two months ago

The ugly development however attracted a reinforced team to storm the area on Wednesday and

Durumi Community had been one area where attempts by the Taskforce team to enforce sanitation and other Urban and Regional Planning laws, have always been strongly resisted by miscreants.

The notorious illegal market, popularly known as ” Kasuwa ndere”, located in Asokoro District was also demolished for allegedly harbouring criminal elements threatening the peace of residents

Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement to FCT Minister, Ikharo Attah who spoke with newsmen on the raid stated that the operations were part of the ongoing fight against insecurity in the city.

He noted that while Durumi Community was over due for thorough sanitation, the Asokoro illegal market was notorious to be left in a highbrow district of Abuja.
