Ex-ADC to Obasanjo, Major General Chris Jemitola, dies after collapsing in Abuja

Major General Chris Jemitola (Rtd), who once served as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has died after collapsing at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja on Thursday morning.

Family sources revealed that Jemitola was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident but was pronounced dead on arrival. The exact cause of his sudden collapse has not yet been disclosed.

Jemitola served as Obasanjo’s ADC from 2003 to 2007, during which he held the rank of colonel.

He was widely respected for his dedication and professionalism throughout his military career. After his role as ADC, he advanced to become the Director of Defence Information and later served as the Defence Attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil.

Before retiring from active service, Jemitola held the influential position of Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army, where his strategic insights were pivotal in shaping military policies. In 2019, he transitioned to the private sector, taking on the role of Senior Advisor for Military Communications at Pinnacle Communications Limited.

News of his sudden death has deeply affected the military and defense communities, with colleagues and associates expressing shock and grief over the loss of a seasoned officer and strategist.

As of the time of this report, Jemitola’s family has not released details regarding funeral arrangements. Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in from military officials and associates, celebrating his contributions to national security and his lasting legacy.
