Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has made a public appeal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, urging him not to incite political turmoil in Oyo State.
This comes after Wike hinted at the possibility of causing unrest in states governed by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members who support Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara.
Speaking at the Ijaw World Congress reception held in Port Harcourt on Saturday to honor Wike, Governor Makinde issued a heartfelt plea, asking the FCT minister not to “ignite any fire” in Oyo State.
While recognizing Wike’s influence and political strength, Makinde emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in his state.
Makinde also praised Wike’s accomplishments during his time as Rivers State governor, specifically highlighting his contributions to infrastructure development.
He said,
” I came to Oyo to identify with my brother and the celebrant of today(Nyesome Wike). When I showed up in Rivers yesterday (Friday) I told him that I brought a peace offering because he has been boasting that he would put fire in some states. I told him please, don’t set fire in Oyo State.
“Let me say on behalf of other governor colleagues and past governors here that you have done well for your people and since I came I have seen projects that were done during your eight years tenure as governor.”
