Dangote unveils first sample of petrol from new refinery

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has proudly showcased the first sample of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, produced at his newly operational refinery.

The presentation took place on Tuesday via a broadcast from the refinery, located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, which boasts a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.

This milestone marks a significant advancement in Nigeria’s energy sector, with the refinery recently commencing a test run of its production capabilities.

During the broadcast, Dangote expressed his deep appreciation for the Nigerian people and President Bola Tinubu’s government, which provided the supportive environment necessary for the project’s success.

“I would like to salute the people of Nigeria and the government of President Bola Tinubu for giving us the platform for growth, development, and prosperity. I also want to thank him personally for creating the idea of the Naira for crude. Doing that will give Naira stability,” Dangote remarked.

He highlighted that the refinery will enable precise monitoring of Nigeria’s true fuel consumption, allowing for the tracking of every truck and ship loaded with petrol.

Additionally, Dangote emphasized that the refinery is designed to meet not only Nigeria’s fuel demands but also to serve the entire sub-Saharan African region.

This development is poised to enhance energy security and stability across the continent, offering a reliable supply of petroleum products.

The successful test run and presentation of the first petrol sample represent a major achievement for the Dangote Refinery and underscore its anticipated impact on Nigeria’s industrial landscape.
