COVID 19: Stay away from plenary if you are sick… Gbajabiamila tells Lawmakers

The speaker of the House of Representatives,  Femi  Gbajabiamila at plenary on Tuesday May 5 asked members of the House to stay away from  plenary if they are sick.

Gbajabiamila, who gave the directive said it is for the good of every member of the House.

The speaker’s  directive  is coming  on the heels  of the death of a member of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly from COVID-19 infection.

He said the directive applies  to himself, the deputy  speaker , Idris  Wase,  other  principal  officers  as well every member  of the House.

The Deputy Speaker Idris Wase while lending his voice to the subject matter said “it has come  to the knowledge of the leadership of the House that a member  of the Green chamber drove  someone to Abuja hospital recently  and that the person has tested positive to the coronavirus disease.”

However, the deputy  speaker, who did not mention  the name of the House member or the constituency he/she represents, noted that the lawmaker was not present at plenary.

” A member of the House  drove somebody,  who has now been confirmed positive,  to Abuja.  That is why the speaker  is saying  this.  Let’s protect ourselves,  protect our families,” Wase  explained.
