Clergymen demand immediate action to combat unemployment

Some Church leaders in Ilorin the Kwara State capital and the General Secretary of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Reverend Ayuba Aseshe have renewed calls for urgent intervention to address current youth unemployment in Nigeria.

The Church leaders who made the call after their Sunday service Sermons, also applauded recent wage award granted federal civil servants, noting that the review will bring some level of relief to beneficiaries.

These church leaders in Kwara State are of the view that to mitigate the effects of recent fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians, federal and state governments must prioritize the welfare of citizens, emphasizing the need for a review of current minimum wage to reflect present realities.

The clergymen also urged Nigerians to push for accountability by monitoring the policy steps of their leaders. The leaders want government to create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive, while also calling on government to create more jobs for Nigerians to address the high rate of unemployment in the country.
