Officers of the Nigeria Police Force have dispersed protesters gathered at Utako Market, Abuja, as part of the #FearlessInOctober demonstration.
AfricanGazette reports that, the protesters who had converged at the market around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, were calling attention to the economic hardships many Nigerians face due to government policies and programs.
However, by 8:54 a.m., police officers intervened, dispersing the crowd. The October 1 protest, which is a continuation of the #EndBadGovernance movement held in August, seeks to highlight the growing discontent with the economic conditions in the country, including inflation, fuel price hikes, and general cost-of-living challenges.
Despite the swift police action, the #FearlessInOctober protest underscores the persistent frustrations of Nigerians and the ongoing demand for better governance and economic reforms.
