Breaking…Emirates resumes flights to Lagos after 2-year suspension

Emirates, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) flag carrier, has resumed operations at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, two years after suspending services due to unresolved issues, including trapped funds belonging to the airline.

On Tuesday, flight EK 783 landed at the old terminal of MMIA at 3:32 PM, marking the airline’s return.

The Boeing 777-300ER, which has a capacity of 392 passengers, arrived with several empty seats, although the exact number of passengers on board was not immediately confirmed.

Passengers described the flight as far from full, but commended the quality of service onboard.

Our correspondent at the airport noted that departing passengers were processed through the new terminal, while arriving passengers used the old terminal.

Despite the initial low turnout, this resumption is expected to pave the way for increased passenger numbers as Emirates fully restores its operations in Nigeria.

One of the passengers said,

“The flight was not full at all but as usual the services were very good. And I think this is understandable being the first flight after many years.”
