Breaking…. Award of OML leases: Reps threaten to invite Buhari if Kyari fails to honour invitation again

… Says NNPC the problem of Nigeria

The House of Representatives has accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation of causing problems in the country.

The House has also threatened to invite President Muhammadu Buhari if the group Managing Director Mele Kyari fails to show up before the Committee to explain role it played in the revocation and Award of Oil Mining leases (OML).

The Chairman of the Committee Sarki Adar made this known whilw summoning, Mele Kyari, Addax company and others who were meanr to appear before them.

While the Minister of Petroleum Resources Timipre Silva showed up citing the Petroleum act (article 24) which gave the President the right to re award, said the ministry followed the procedure in the act.

He faulted the action of the NNPC in the whole process and awarded to kaztec Engineering.

He said Chinese-owned Addax lost OML 123, 124, 126 and 137 because it failed to carry out work on the licenses. The company had “refused to develop the assets”, he said.

This failure is “economic sabotage, pointing to grounds under the Petroleum Act laid out for revocation of a licence.

The DPR awarded the blocks to Kaztec Engineering and Salvic Petroleum Resources.

The agency will provide an official handover for the assets.

The lawmwkers who were furious over the GMDs recurring refusal to appear before them when summoned said the NNPC under his watch has been the problem of Nigeria.
