Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has reacted to his victory at Presidential Election Petitions Court, (PEPC).
The Presidential Election Petition Court PEPC on Wednesday struck out filed by Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against Kashim Shettima and Bola Tinubu for lack of merit making it the first victory recorded.
It was the first case called by the court as Petition 4.
APM had argued that Vice-President Shettima was not qualified to contest the 25 February presidential election as Tinubu’s running mate as his nomination violated Section 35 of Electoral Act 2022, and other constitutional provisions.
Shettima joking said he would recommend Atiku to retire to Fombina instead of Dubai or Morocco.
He said “We are not going to retire Atiku Abubakar to Dubai or Morocco. I will retire him to Fombina, I will buy him goats and broilers and layers so that he can spend his days rearing goats and broilers”
He said “Atiku Abubakar is an elder statesman I hold in very high esteem. The nation needs him, experience is not something you can buy in the market”
The PDP, Labour Party and APM had gone to the court against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu over his declaration as winner of the election.
The court in his judgment dismissed all the three petitions by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and that of the PDP and Atiku Abubakar affirming President Bola Tinubu’s election.
