The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Niger Delta University (NDU), a Bayelsa State Government-owned institution, has declared an indefinite strike.
The decision comes in response to the government’s alleged failure to honor previously agreed-upon commitments with the union.
The announcement was made on Tuesday following a meeting at the union’s secretariat in Amassoma.
The strike is expected to bring academic activities at the university to a standstill, leaving students and stakeholders uncertain about the immediate future of the institution.
While ASUU has yet to fully disclose the specifics of its grievances, insider sources reveal that unresolved issues such as unpaid salaries, inadequate funding, and poor infrastructure are central to their demands.
