Army ready to pay 8.4bn life assurance packages

Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has expressed the Army’s readiness to immediately commence the payment of over N18.4Billion outstanding group life assurance welfare package to families of soldiers who paid the ultimate prize in the service to their Fatherland.

The Army Chief made this revelation in Ibadan during the closing ceremony of the second regimental sergeant majors convention where he promised to boost the morale of its officers and men as well as ensure improved welfare.

The Army chief who described regimental Sergeant Majors as critical stakeholders in the Nigerian Army’s Administrative and command arrangement promised to reintroduce training reforms, boost morale of his officers, ensure fair dispensation of justice and recognize gallantry of exceptional officers.

He reeled out some of the plans of the Army leadership under his watch.

This five day training program with the theme “ Leveraging Sound Administration for a highly motivated force and Operational efficiency in the Nigerian Army was designed to position officers to a high winning level that would enable them confront all forms of challenges that pose a threat to our national security.
