The Port Harcourt division of the Court of Appeal on Monday dismissed two appeals filed by Local Government Chairmen aligned with former governor Nyesom Wike.
The appeals, designated as CA/PH/137M/2024 and CA/PH/145M/2024, were brought forward by Hon. Enyiada Cookey-Gam and six others. They challenged the lower court’s decisions regarding the extension of their council leadership tenure.
Upon review, the Court of Appeal found the appeals to be without merit and subsequently struck them out.
This ruling upholds the lower court’s decisions and marks a significant development in the ongoing political dynamics within the state.
