Owners of plots at the Apo-Dutse scrap market site have been given one month ultimatum by the FCT Administration to taker over and commence construction works or risk revocation of theirs plots
The Administration issued the warning on Monday while pulling down about 150 illegal shanties and shops in the area
The Administration said within the one month ultimatum, the allottees should commence meaningful development in terms of fencing and ground breaking for structures on their plots
The Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement to the minister of FCT, Ikharo Attah, lamented that after the administration spent the state resources to cleanup the market the owners of plots are yet to take possession of their plots.
Comrade Attah said the mop up exercise on Apo-Dutse scrap market on Monday was done after spending several days to remove the illegalities on plots of land
The SSA expressed the concern of Minister of FCT Malam Muhammad Bello over the the alleged failure of the allottees to take over their land after spending state resources to do the clean up exercise
On allocation of alternative plot to the Association of scrap dealers, Attah said the Minister is considering it, appealing that the dealers should be patient.
The chairman Association of scrap dealer, Apo-Dutse Scrap market, Anas Ismail, while fielding questions from journalists said his members are not regrouping rather they are packing their things away and waiting on the minister to allocate a permanent site for their business
