Again, suspected Boko Haram insurgents attack Yobe, burn vehicles, houses

Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly launched a fresh attack on Buni Yadi, a town in Yobe State’s Gujba Local Government Area, adding to the string of violent incidents plaguing the region.

According to witnesses, the attackers entered the town on foot, setting fire to a vigilante camp and several vehicles, including two from a local bread factory.

The insurgents also targeted areas near the government lodge, sparking a battle with vigilante forces and special units stationed in the town.

Despite attempts to resist, the vigilantes were forced to retreat as the attackers overpowered them.

Reports indicate that one vigilante sustained injuries during the assault. Local law enforcement and military officials, including Yobe State Police Command’s DSP Dungus Abdulkarim and Captain Shehu Muhammad of Operation Lafiya Dole, confirmed the incident, highlighting that the terrorists arrived en masse, shooting indiscriminately.

The attack underscores the persistent security challenges faced by communities in Yobe State, as Boko Haram continues its campaign of violence in northeastern Nigeria.
