The House of Representatives Committee on Defence on Tuesday received a delegation from the Defence Academy to brief it on the Security breach that took place at the Nigerian Defence Academy Afaka on the 24th of August.
The Commandant General of the Defence Academy Maj-Gen Ibrahim Yusuf on Monday told the House that concerted efforts are ongoing to ensure the release of the abducted soldier.
Recall that Suspected bandits had attacked the NDA in Kaduna academy, killing two officers.
While asking for a close door session, the Chairman of the Committee Babajimi Benson promised to work with the Academy to find a lasting solution to the problems
The bandits were said to have come in large numbers.
Yusuf said that he was at the House of Reps to shed light on the occurrence of the attack on the academy that led to the killing and abduction of officers.
He added that the House would also be briefed on the ongoing effort of the military to rescue the abducted officers.
He said that the Chief of Defence Staff, Let Gen Lucky Irabor visited the scene of the attack the day it happened, adding that many senior officers and retired military officers had also visited.
He said that the NDA was so dare to the heart of both serving and retired military officers, this he said was responsible for the barrage of visit to the academy.
Yusuf however disclosed that what he was about to show to the committee was a classified information and would not be for Journalist to see.
The Committee Chairman, Rep Babajimi Benson(APC-Lagos) therefore asked Journalists to excuse them from the briefing.
He further said that the committee would also listen to how the military would find the missing officers that were abducted by the bandits.
He promised that both the House and the academy will work together to ensure the ugly incident does not repeat itself again.
