The Adamawa government has given hotels in the state six weeks to close if they do not have CCTV surveillance cameras.
This is coming on the heels of recent killing of a woman in in Happy Day Hotel, Target Junction Jimeta, Yola.
In view of this, no fewer than 70 registered hotels in Adamawa State risk fizzling out of businesses if they fail to install cctv cameras.
The Deputy State Governor, Kaletapwa George Farauta, gave this indication at an emergency meeting with the hospitality business owners at Government House, Yola.
Kaletapwa who described the killing as barbaric, warned hotel owners to ensure the safety of their customers.
She added that hence forth negligence and insecurity in the hotels will not be tolerated.
The Deputy Governor stressed that protection of life and property of the citizens is the Fresh Air Government’s top priority
Earlier speaking, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr Edgar Amos announced that a committee has already been set up to go round and ensure compliance of the government’s directive.
In his remark, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaiman Nguroje urged the public to give timely information to the police to enable them take action immediately after the incident; while emphasizing that the police is committed to ensure peace and stability in the state.
Samuel Aduata, the state chairman of Hoteliers Association also assured of the union’s cooperation to avoid future occurrence of the recent killing.
