The FC Minister, Mallam Musa Bello has warned Abuja Association of Scrap Market Dealers against illegal scrap business where stollen goods are sold
The Minister who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement Ikharo Attah gave this warning while meeting with leaders of the Scrap Dealers Association in Abuja
The Minister Aide advised the scrap dealers to obtain and issued receipt for any of their business transaction to discourage purchases of stollen items
Ikharo Attah advised the scrap dealers not to allow refuse collectors to stay where they operate and promised to table their request of the association for land to the Minister for appropriate action
Abuja Association of Scrap Dealers members were in the Minister office to apologize to the FCT Administration over the alleged nuisance value and illegal business transactions by some members of the association
Chairman of the association, Sagiru Garba pleaded with the minister to approve a genuine market for legitimate scrap business in the FCT
The chairman said the recent demolition excercise carried by the FCT Administration in Apo-Dutse scrap market has left many of them jobless
Garba explained that ‘unregistered refuse collectors otherwise known as babanbolas’ are not members of the scrap dealers and should not be identified with them
